GAMI, 2022

GAMI ("Garza Migratoria" / Migratory Heron) is the second large-scale puppet performance piece to emerge from the "Armadilla" collective. It represents a collaborative theatrical effort that has crafted a fable centered on migration, water, freedom, and self-discovery for this activation.

GAMI unfolds through a series of actions, revealing a newborn bird stretching in a world of asphalt—a landscape that expanded to encroach upon the natural habitats of many animal species. GAMI rummages through trash and draws upon the water of fountains—mirrors and Narcissus-like reflections within a strange, polluted urban oasis. Here, the humidity, the river of traffic, and the sparse surrounding greenery prompt us to reflect on the crossings and migrations that both humans and wildlife undertake daily as acts of resistance and adaptation.
